Highlight anomalous and noteworthy vessel behaviour

Detect non-reporting or ‘dark vessels’ and gain insights into illegal fishing

Starboard ingests vast volumes of data from multiple sources—including global vessel movements and synthetic aperture radar, radio frequency and optical satellite data. We combine these layers of data in a real-time geospatial platform to detect dark vessels.

We employ algorithms and machine learning models to highlight noteworthy vessel activity associated with illegal fishing practices, such as when two vessels meet at sea or are fishing in a protected marine reserve.

Identify potential vectors of COVID-19 transmission through vessel history analysis and the detection of non-reporting small vessels

Identify potential vectors of COVID-19 transmission through vessel history analysis and the detection of non-reporting small vessels

Starboard analyses vessel histories, including port visits, durations, and encounters at sea, and compares this information with virus prevalence and journey time between nations.

We detect non-reporting small vessels by picking up radio frequency signals from their onboard communication devices. We establish which areas to target by predicting their location through the analysis of weather information and historical movement patterns. This helps border and biosecurity officials prepare to process arriving vessels.

Identify biosecurity threats before vessels reach your territorial waters

Identify biosecurity threats before vessels reach your territorial waters

Starboard alerts biosecurity analysts to vessels worthy of further investigation by analysing a vessel’s historical movements and combining that information with data about unwanted pests.

A common operating picture and analysis platform for teams within your organisation

A common operating picture and analysis platform for teams within your organisation

Starboard is a web-based application which covers global maritime activity. Users from multiple teams can use the software and securely collaborate and share data with others through their browser.

Teams create analysis reports based on their areas and activities of interest, and have control over who can can see their data. This enables biosecurity, border security, and fisheries analysis teams to effectively work together from the same platform.

Starboard puts real-time information, built on sound science, into the hands of analysts working right across your maritime domain—supporting them to make informed and effective decisions.
